The importance of moisturizer

I used to skip moisturizer because of my acne-prone skin, then when starting to use an oil free moisturizer ( Neutrogena)  my skin looked better. Then I did my research on why it was important to moisturize daily ( not only your face). You shouldn’t skip the moisturizing step in your skin care routine. Moisturizing creams often have : Humectants, such as urea, glycerin and alpha hydroxy acids, that works by absorbing water from the air around you. Emollients, such as lanolin, mineral oil or petrolatum, fill in spaces between the skin cells to smooth the appearance of rough skin.Hydration is what allows skin to function at peak performance. Skin cells this can rapidly repair themselves and turnover fresh cells, which means anti-aging benefits.

One of the first mistakes people make when using products on their skin is using a product that doesn’t fit their skin type. You should use a moisturizer that fits your skin type.To get the most out of your moisturizer, prime your skin first. While in the shower, use a sponge or an exfoliating body scrub a two times a week to exfoliate and remove dead skin.  Removing dead skin cells before adding a moisturizing lotion or cream can help your skin absorb better the cream and increase hydration. Within three minutes of getting out of the shower, apply lotion to trap the moisture on your skin.

Regular moisturizing will keep your skin healthy and looking its best.

Do you moisturize your skin daily? What’s you favorite moisturizer?
